This war is at least as much about relations between the Soviet Union, China, and Korea as about the relations between the United States and those countries. It had a murky origin and an indecisive conclusion, which has still not been resolved.

In both instances, however, the leaders were wrong and the United States did answer strongly, gaining support in the United Nations for forces led by American generals.
