In a sense Faust rebels against societys expectations of him. Although Faust does not roll the blissful state of mind that Mephistopheles promises he becomes content with where he stands. He becomes satisfied with the knowledge he tames and learns how to enjoy life. No matter how unethical society portrays him to be he finds that the experience is definitely worth it.
