The closely Oppressed
This chapter mainly focuses on the injustices d wholeness against women, as we can see to it from the first few sentences. Zinn gives numerous examples of womens subordinance and invisibility to the proportionality of the world. Women at the time (approx. colonial to early 20th century) were seen as inferior and were used in more ways than one. fit in to Zinn, their physical characteristics became a convenience for men, who could use, exploit, and cherish someone who was at the same time servant, sex mate, companion, and bearer-teacher-warden of his children, (Zinn 103). As time continued, however, women began to urgency more opportunities and more freedoms, as well as young reputations. Famous women in history began to emit out and reverberate together for their cause. Women were taking part in movements for prisoners, for the insane, for black slaves, and for everybody, exclusively in the name of equality.
My reaction towards this chapter was almost bipolar. On one hand, I enjoyed reading about the empowered women who took their lives and independence into their testify hands and stood up. I really admire people alike this, because they fought for a cause they believed in and that I believe in.
And whats more, they fought with what they had, which were not the most advantageous tools for equality, but they were the ones they were able to use. However, on the other hand I feel that Zinn over-exaggerates. His biased take aim of view has noticeably seeped through previous chapters, but I was okay with it because I understand his point of view and what meaning hes trying to get across. But when it comes to a matter like this, I dont rally hes in any position to speak about the numerous and severe injustices done to women because those times of bulky inequality didnt break any of these women; it only do them stronger and more determined.
